Jewelry, Loose Diamonds Stolen in NJ
A robbery which took place January 6th in Jersey City, NJ left a jewelry store owner pistol whipped and an employee ties up while the robbers emptied display cases and stole loose diamonds from a safe which was unlocked.
When police arrived to Jarlley Jewelers that afternoon on West Side Ave., they saw the owner, a 49 yearl old man on the floor bleeing from the head and a 66 year old employee with his hand tied up by a type of plastic zip tie.
The owner said a man came into the store and asked to see a loose diamond and while he was showing him a few items, a second man entered the store and said, “This is a hold up.” That’s when the first man took out a silver gun and struck the owner in the forehead with it while the second robber jumped over the counter and bound the employee’s hands, reports said.
The second man then began stuffing jewelry into a blue bag while the gunman stood watch over the owner. Both robbers left together heading south. The owner had to be taken by ambulance to the hospital for treatment of a cut above his left eye.
